ICON Group Skip Bin Hire Terms and Conditions

By booking a skip bin with ICON Group (“ICON Group”, “we”, “us” or “our”), the customer (“you” or “your”) agrees to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before completing your booking.

1. Hire Period and Extensions

1.1 The standard hire period is seven (7) days from the date of delivery.

1.2 You may request an extension in additional seven-day blocks. Each seven-day extension will be charged at 50% of the original hire rate.

1.3 Extension requests should be made before the current hire period expires.

1.4 If an extension is requested after the skip has been scheduled for collection, additional collection, cancellation or redelivery fees may apply.

1.5 If the skip is not available for collection and an extension has not been arranged by the end of the hire period, additional hire charges may apply. We also reserve the right to arrange collection of the skip.

2. Delivery and Collection

2.1 Delivery and collection from the nominated address on the agreed dates are included in the quoted hire price, unless otherwise advised.

2.2 You must provide clear and safe access for our delivery vehicle. Any narrow access, overhead obstructions, soft or unsuitable ground, steep gradients or other access restrictions must be disclosed when booking.

2.3 Skips may be placed on private property, including a driveway, or on a public road, nature strip or other council-controlled land where legally permitted.

2.4 Placement on public or council-controlled land may require a permit. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, you are responsible for obtaining and paying for all required permits before delivery.

2.5 Any fine, penalty, relocation cost or other expense resulting from a skip being placed on public or council-controlled land without the required approval will be payable by you.

2.6 We may refuse or postpone delivery or collection if, in our driver’s reasonable judgement, the site is unsafe, inaccessible or otherwise unsuitable.

2.7 Delivery and collection dates and times are estimates only. Although we will make reasonable efforts to meet the requested schedule, we cannot guarantee a specific arrival time.

2.8 You must ensure the skip is accessible for collection on the agreed date. Additional charges may apply if access is obstructed or a return visit is required.

3. Permitted Waste

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, our general-purpose skips may be used for:

• Household general waste and unwanted items

• Garden and green waste

• Timber, furniture and household fittings

• General construction and demolition waste, including bricks, concrete and plasterboard
  
  Some materials may require a specific skip type or disposal arrangement. You must accurately describe the intended waste when booking. Please contact us before placing any material in the skip if you are unsure whether it is permitted.
  
  4. Prohibited Waste
  
  The following materials must not be placed in a standard ICON Group skip:

• Asbestos or asbestos-containing material (ACM)

• Tyres

• Gas bottles, cylinders or pressurised containers

• Paint, solvents, chemicals or liquids

• Car, household, lithium or rechargeable batteries

• Motor oil, fuel or other hazardous or flammable substances

• Medical, clinical or biohazardous waste

• Food or other putrescible waste

• Televisions, computers or other electronic waste

• Refrigerators, freezers, air-conditioning units or other appliances containing refrigerant

• Any hazardous, toxic, contaminated, restricted or illegal material
  
  If prohibited material is found in a skip, we may:

• Refuse or postpone collection until the material is removed

• Require the material to be removed or made safe at your expense

• Charge reasonable additional sorting, handling, transport, cleaning, decontamination or disposal fees

• Report the material to the appropriate authority where legally required
  
  5. Asbestos and Asbestos-Containing Material
  
  5.1 Skips intended for asbestos or asbestos-containing material cannot be booked through our standard online booking system.
  
  5.2 Please contact ICON Group directly to discuss an appropriately licensed asbestos collection and disposal arrangement.
  
  5.3 Asbestos or suspected asbestos-containing material must never be placed in a standard skip. Doing so is a serious breach of these Terms and Conditions and may breach workplace health and safety, public health and environmental laws.
  
  5.4 If a standard skip contains asbestos or suspected asbestos-containing material, it will not be transported until the skip has been assessed and made safe.
  
  5.5 Any required testing, removal, decontamination, inspection, transport and licensed disposal will be arranged at your expense. Additional fees will apply.
  
  6. Weight Limits and Loading Requirements
  
  The following weight allowances are included in the hire price:
  
  6 m³ Skip
  Included weight: Up to 2 tonnes
  Excess-weight charge: From $220 per tonne, or part thereof, above the included limit

  
  15 m³ Skip
  Included weight: Up to 5 tonnes
  Excess-weight charge: From $220 per tonne, or part thereof, above the included limit

  
  
  6.1 The final weight is determined using the disposal facility’s weighbridge measurement.
  
  6.2 Excess-weight charges apply to any weight above the included allowance and will be invoiced after weighing.
  
  6.3 Waste must not extend above the top rim of the skip. All skips must be level-loaded and safe for transport.
  
  6.4 We may refuse to collect an overloaded, overfilled or otherwise unsafe skip until its contents have been reduced, rearranged or made safe.
  
  6.5 You are responsible for removing excess material and making the skip safe for collection.
  
  6.6 Overweight, overfilled or incorrectly loaded skips may incur additional handling, transport, return-trip or disposal charges.
  
  6.7 Additional charges may also apply where waste has been incorrectly described, mixed with another waste category or requires sorting or disposal through a different facility.
  
  ## 7. Cancellations and Rescheduling
  
  7.1 Cancellation and rescheduling requests should be made as early as possible.
  
  7.2 Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled delivery, or after the skip has been dispatched, may incur reasonable transport and administration charges and may not qualify for a full refund.
  
  7.3 We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requested date changes, subject to vehicle and skip availability.
  
  7.4 If we cannot complete a delivery due to unsafe conditions, inadequate access or incorrect information supplied at booking, additional delivery or rescheduling charges may apply.
  
  8. Site Conditions, Damage and Customer Responsibilities
  
  8.1 You are responsible for selecting a placement area that is safe, accessible and capable of supporting the combined weight of our vehicle and a fully loaded skip.
  
  8.2 Heavy vehicles and loaded skips may mark, crack, compress or otherwise damage driveways, paving, kerbs, footpaths, lawns and soft ground.
  
  8.3 To the extent permitted by law, ICON Group is not responsible for damage resulting from unsuitable ground or a placement location selected or approved by you, except where the damage is caused by our negligence or unlawful conduct.
  
  8.4 You are responsible for protecting the skip from damage, misuse, movement, fire and unauthorised access throughout the hire period.
  
  8.5 You are responsible for all material placed in the skip while it is in your possession, including material added by neighbours, passers-by or other third parties.
  
  8.6 You must not move, alter, burn material in, climb into or interfere with the skip.
  
  8.7 You may be charged for loss of or damage to the skip beyond reasonable wear and tear.
  
  9. Payment and Additional Charges
  
  9.1 Full payment is required when booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  
  9.2 Additional charges may include, where applicable:

• Hire extensions

• Excess weight

• Incorrectly declared or mixed waste 

• Prohibited or contaminated material

• Sorting, cleaning or decontamination

• Failed delivery or collection attempts

• Additional transport or return trips

• Council fines, permits or relocation costs

• Damage to or loss of the skip
  
  9.3 Additional charges will be invoiced separately and must be paid by the due date shown on the invoice.
  
  9.4 Where a fee is described as being “from” a particular amount, the final charge may vary according to the material, weight, disposal facility, labour, transport and regulatory requirements involved.
  
  10. Australian Consumer Law
  
  Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable legislation.
  
  11. Acceptance
  
  By completing your booking or accepting delivery of the skip, you confirm that:
  

•  You have read and understood these Terms and Conditions

• The information supplied in your booking is accurate

• You have disclosed the intended waste type and any relevant site-access restrictions

• You agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions

• You agree to pay any applicable additional charges incurred under these Terms and Conditions
